Armenia has violated rights of 250,000 Azerbaijanis since 1988, official says

Azerbaijani State Migration Service Chairman Vusal Huseynov has said that the citizenship rights of 250,000 Azerbaijani citizens who fell victim to Armenia's ethnic cleansing policy have been violated since 1988.

The Azerbaijani government has carried out appropriate work to restore these rights, Huseynov said at the "High-level Conference on Statelessness" in Baku on July 6.

He noted that about 2,500 stateless people were granted Azerbaijani citizenship over the past 15 years and the citizenship of over 6,000 stateless people was recognized.

"One of the directions of the State Migration Service is the elimination and prevention of cases of statelessness,” Huseynov added.
